Why You Should Power Your Small Business Website With Wordpress

With the help of my web savvy assistant (aka my husband Corey) I've recently added a new service to my list of offerings; Wordpress Website Implementation. Many of you may have heard of Wordpress, but may not know exactly what it is and why so many people and businesses (such as E-Bay, Sony, and Panasonic to name a few) have begun using Wordpress to power their websites and blogs. So let's demystify it a little bit.

Wordpress is a user-friendly Content Management System otherwise known as a "CMS." There was a time when CMS software with the features, power, and flexibility of Wordpress would cost tens of thousands of dollars. Luckily for us, Wordpress is an open source software. Not only does that mean it is FREE to install and use, but Wordpress also boasts a huge community of programmers around the world that contribute to improving the functionality of Wordpress.

So if you are a small business who needs an affordable yet professional looking website; Wordpress just may be the right solution for you! Perhaps you've tried website builders like squarespace or wix and have not been happy with the results. Unlike turn-key website builders, Wordpress allows editing of the source code which means unlimited design flexibility.   And since the Wordpress websites don't have to be built from the ground up, designers like myself save a substantional amount of time which in turn means substantial cost savings for our clients!

Here are just a few more reasons why I love Wordpress:

  • It offers tons of design flexiblity
  • It's Search Engine Friendly
  • It's Easy to Use
  • Low Cost to Set up and Use
  • Comes Equipped with Blogging Tools
  • Expansive List of Plugins Available to extend functionality
  • Great Support by a World Wide Community
  • Free tools (plugins) to extend functionality
  • Can be Used for almost any type of website (Blog or Not)
